Go to your local Department of Motor Vehicles office to see if they have safety classes available. Different states and counties charge different prices so take heed to how much you can spend for a class. Also, take note of their schedules. It may be difficult to complete if they do not have a flexible schedule to coincide with schedules of a working person, a student or someone without childcare.

Check online for reputable online traffic school courses. This is usually a cheaper route to take since the courses are done from your home. Certificates are mailed to your home and you present it to the court. Other delivery options are available, but you will have to check the individual website for specifications.

Ask the traffic court for a pre-approved list of traffic schools. If you already see an cheap online school that you would like to use that is not on the list, ask if you can use it.

Verify with your insurance company if they will accept your school's certificate in order to give you an insurance premium reduction. Typically, the reduction lasts for 3 years, depending on your location and insurance policy.
