Tips And Advices - Line a Car Trunk with Trash Bags

Edit By:Care Cars
Select trash bags on the basis of durability. Look for heavy-duty, large-size bags that can be made to easily fit over, around and into your car trunk. The 30-gallon variety seem to be the most common at local supermarkets.

Calculate how many bags you will need by the size of your trunk and by the coverage area of the lining. You can do this visually, or you can manually measure and figure out the area of the surfaces to be covered. Also, keep in mind the nature of the substance you're transporting; you may need to have double or triple coverage in order to protect the lining of your trunk. If so, that will double or triple your cost in the number of bags to purchase.

Lay the bags down, being sure to leave enough overlap to go into the edge of the trunk. Keep in mind that your overall goal is to protect the car trunk's lining from spillage or staining by whatever you're transporting. Also be aware that shifting can occur during travel, as the objects you're transporting move back and forth. This movement can cause shifting in the position of the lining, exposing the car trunk to staining or damage.

Secure the bags in place by folding them over and into natural crevices around the edge of the trunk. Or, if you have a trunk where the dealer lining covers the trunk and the backs of the back seats, use a staple gun. Before you do, weigh the advantages and disadvantages of marring the lining of your trunk with staples.

Fasten bags to the edges and around the sides of the trunk, especially if you'll be transporting materials or goods where liquids could leak out.
