Tips And Advices - Compete at an International Show Car Association Event

Edit By:Care Cars
Visit the International Show Car association's website at theisca.com. Here you can get a feel for what the association is looking for, see past winners and find out more about the association.

Download the rule book. Click the "ISCA Rule Book" on the side bar, then click the link. This will give you all the details for competing and information about the point system.

Identify which region you are in. The International Show Car Association has divided the USA and Canada into 4 regions. The "West" region goes as far as Kansas, the "East" region comes as far west as Mississippi. The "Southwest" encompasses Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana, and the "Midwest" region is made up of Michigan and the states and provinces surrounding it.

Become a member of the ISCA. Keep in mind there is around a $90 yearly membership fee and a small entry fee for each show, but the association pays mileage for shows over 100 miles away. (See the related eHow article titled "How to Become a member of the International Show Car Association.")

Know what the judges are looking for. They judge in five areas: paint and bodywork, complete engine compartment, the interior, the undercarriage and the overall detail, and finally the cleanliness, fit and finish. The overall quality, degree of difficulty and drivability of the vehicle are also important.
